I was reading the news and Business Week Online posted this interesting article:
Why America needs an Economic Strategy
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_45/b4107038217112.htm
I thought it was interesting and one of the main issues to remember is not the amount of money spent/needed etc...It's the lack of strategy.
Read it and understand a bit more what's been going on.
My favorite part: The attack on the Public Education System. For 7 years now I've been witnessing how poor the structure is. I don't care for FCATS or what other states use to "rate" their schools. It's useless. The system lacks substance and doesn't develop students to think and analyze critically. I don't care if it's an A school or an F school. It's the same, with different people. THis is the truth, and we know it, but just don't want to realize it.
The scary part is that THIS is OUR future.
Pregnant teens not finishing high school. Juniors and Seniors not knowing what the French Revolution was or what political system other countries have, and not being able to form their own political and economic ideas. High School Freshmen, Sophomores AND Seniors not knowing how to write decently, correctly, conjugating verbs wrongly (I should have did that / If I had went there / I stood over at her house / We was doing that / I should OF thought about that / I should OF known it (the worst for me!) / Your instead of You're / and the list goes on and on)
Ridiculous. To know that the richest country speaks and writes (what is even worse!) like that...
